Uses of Cildip 10

Hypertension (high blood pressure), Prevention of Angina (chest pain), Heart attack, and Stroke.

Blood pressure:

Blood Pressure measures the force exerted by the heart to pump blood throughout the body. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a chronic condition characterized by excessively high pressure, which can cause arteries to harden, reducing blood and oxygen flow to the heart. This can lead to angina (chest pain) and heart attacks (when the heart's blood supply is blocked). High blood pressure can also result in brain damage (stroke) and kidney failure.

Blood pressure is typically measured using a blood pressure monitor or sphygmomanometer. It consists of two readings: systolic pressure (the pressure when the heart pumps blood out) and diastolic pressure (the pressure when the heart rests between beats). A reading of 140/90 mm Hg means the systolic pressure is 140 mm Hg, and the diastolic pressure is 90 mm Hg. Ideal blood pressure ranges from 90/60 mm Hg to 120/80 mm Hg.

• Monitor your blood pressure daily and if there is too much of fluctuation then immediately contact your doctor.
• Try to include heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acid-containing food drinks in your daily diet. You can also use low-fat cooking oil like olive oil, soybean oil, canola oil, and coconut oil can help in lowering your elevated blood pressure.

Indication of Cildip 10

Cilnidipine is a calcium channel blocker. It lowers blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels, which makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body.

Pharmacology

Cildip 10 mg is a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker. It binds to the dihydropyridine binding sites of the L-type voltage-dependent calcium channels, inhibiting calcium (Ca2+) influx into the vascular smooth muscle cells, resulting in muscle relaxation and vasodilation. It also inhibits Ca2+ influx through N-type voltage-dependent calcium channels in sympathetic nerve cell membranes, which suppresses norepinephrine release from sympathetic nerve terminals, thereby preventing reflexive heart rate increases following blood pressure reduction.

Dosage & Administration of Cildip 10

• Adults: 5-10 mg once daily after breakfast, with a maximum dose of 20 mg daily.
• Elderly: Start with the lowest possible dose (5 mg) due to higher susceptibility to hypotension.
• Pediatric: The safety of Cildip 10 mg in children has not been established.

Interaction

May interact with other antihypertensive drugs, antipsychotics that cause hypotension, quinidine, carbamazepine, phenytoin, rifampicin, cimetidine, and erythromycin.

Contraindications

• Patients with known sensitivity to Cildip 10 mg or any of its components
• Patients with cardiogenic shock, recent myocardial infarction, acute unstable angina, and severe aortic stenosis

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Not recommended for pregnant women or those who may become pregnant.
• Nursing mothers should avoid use; if necessary, lactation should be discontinued.

Precaution & Warnings:

• Administer with caution in patients with severe hepatic dysfunction or a history of serious adverse reactions to calcium antagonists.
• Gradually decrease dosage under close observation when discontinuing the medication.
